Good News
Saturday 27th March
Course Now Open for Play to Members & Non Members

This is the latest from Welsh Government interpreted by Wales Golf for us.

From Saturday 27th of March the ‘stay local’ rule will be replaced by an interim all-Wales travel area, which will remain in place until April 12, subject to the public health situation.

There is no change to the number of different households that can mix outdoors.

Up to six people from two different households can meet and exercise outdoors but golf will remain in the following forms:

  • 2 balls (2 golfers from different households)

  • 3 balls (2 golfers from one household and 1 golfer from a different household)

  • 4 balls (2 golfers from one household and 2 golfers from another household)

As Pontnewydd is a 9 hole course:

  • We will only be allowing members to book 9 holes. However, if no one has booked in and the tee is empty you may continue to play additional holes.

  • We are only allowing 2 balls until the rules change. Sorry for the inconvenience but we need to be fair to all members.

As from this weekend 27th March the course will also be OPEN to NON MEMBERS. If you wish to play the course as a NON MEMBER please contact the Secretary to book a date and tee time. BOOKINGS CAN BE MADE BETWEEN 10.00am and 2.00pm weekdays.

Thank you for your understanding, tolerance and generosity.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

WELCOME to Pontnewydd Golf Club.....

We are debatably the Oldest Golf Club in Wales, the course was established in 1875, over 140 years ago, and our aim now, as was then, is to provide quality, affordable golf to members and visitors in a safe and friendly environment. In short...

Golf  for One & All

We are officially classed as a 9 hole course, but by combining the 11 different greens and various additional tee box areas we have, by playing the course a second time it becomes an 18 hole course.

If you are a High or Low Handicap player the course will test your golfing ability and for the busy workingman or woman with little spare time and find it difficult to play a full 18 holes, we are the ideal answer, play 9 and be back at the Club House (not stranded mid course as is the case on many other "Full" 18 hole Clubs).

We are a small friendly Club, we offer a very warm welcome to all so don't delay come and play... Give us a try, you won't regret it and even if your golf is off on that day the on course views across the valley and Bristol Channel towards Ilfracombe are amazing.

We look forward to seeing you.
