Pontnewydd Ladies Mail on Sunday Golf Classic 2011
What An Achievement !!
The club were ecstatic to reach Round 9 of the Competition which was played in Manchester on Monday 26th September. The ladies were drawn to play Ganton Golf Club from Scarborough at 11:20. For the first time that weekend the sun shone and it was a really pleasant day to play. Unfortunately for our ladies the Ganton team proved too strong on the day. Good luck in Spain – “we’ll be thinking of you”
Pontnewydd Golf Club has always had a reputation for having a loyal following of supporters and this day was no different. The supporters who travelled up gave the players a huge boost and other teams there were amazed at the number of supporters on the first tee that day. Thank you all for making the effort on the day and for the fund raising before hand – without your help the team would not have made it.
Although the result didn’t go our way the achievement cannot be underestimated. There were 16 teams Manchester - 8 men’s teams and 8 ladies teams - over 3000 clubs entered the competition this year and we were there !!
